What is a 401k?
A 401(k) plan is a company-sponsored retirement account that employees can contribute to. Employers can contribute to their employees retirements accounts this way, often by matching the employees contributions. There are two types of 401-Ks, known as traditional or Roth. These differ primarily in how they are taxed. Group Employees Insurance is happy to answer any questions you may have about 401-K’s or any other employer sponsored retirement account you are interested in.
What is a cafeteria plan?
A cafeteria plan is an employee benefit plan that allows an organization's employees to choose from a variety of different pre-tax benefits. Employees can contribute a portion of their gross income before any taxes are calculated and deducted. This is a specialized benefits plan that give employees a level of choice that many other benefits packages do not.
What is life insurance?
Life insurance is an insurance policy that guarantees a payment to a beneficiary after the death of the person whose life is insured. These are great policies for families which depend on a family member for income and would experience financial strain upon the death of that family member. Federal Employees have life insurance under the Federal Employees Group Life Insurance, which is optional. This optional insurance will increase in cost every 5 years. Eventually, as you get older, your FEGLI insurance may be unaffordable. We specialize in federal employee benefits and can help do a No-cost analysis to see if we can help with your current benefits and our rates may be as much as 500 percent cheaper as your current policy.

Why is it important to be insured?
Whether it’s your life or your retirement, you really can’t afford not to have coverage. Should an accident happen or a disaster occur, we want to make sure you’re covered, not left wondering how you’re going to pay the bills on your most valuable assets. Think of insurance as a safety net. When something unforeseen occurs that could result in mass out-of-pocket expenses, the most important people you’ll be concerning yourself with are your loved ones. Let us be there to help you pay for the things that can be replaced. Trust our process and you’ll live in a better peace of mind.
What does my insurance cover?
This is a highly variable question and depends on what sor of insurance you have. Generally, your insurance policy covers you. Anything you do or are involved with that damages either your property, house or car, or someone else’s, individual insurance policies are there to protect you from financial ruin. When you are involved in an accident there are often far more important things to worry about than how you’re going to pay for physical or financial recovery. We look forward to being of great service to you and to protect you and your loved ones in difficult times.
When should I file an insurance claim?
The most important thing to remember is that the fastest way to report an accident or unforeseen event to the proper authorities is to call 911 or the fire department. Police officers often are able to provide the documentation that all insurance agencies need to see before agreeing to pay for damages. For less serious accidents, calling and reporting your accident within a 24-hour timeframe is the most reasonable. It’s also important to remember that the longer you wait, the more difficult it is to get a true reading of the events that occurred. Remember you can always call Group Employees Insurance at 801-268-8820 to get answers to any insurance questions you may have.
How much insurance or retirement planning should I have?
The short answer is, “It depends.” There are many factors to consider when deciding which insurance policy to take out. Having enough to fully replace your insured items is a good rule of thumb. It’s very difficult to provide a ballpark estimate when talking about how much is enough insurance. We suggest calling our office at (801) 618-9549 or requesting a quote to individually and specifically discuss your situation. These steps will allow us to provide you with the most accurate insurance policies.
